Work Experience Review

This summer, Lyfe Studio welcomed three aspiring creatives into our Ancoats studio for a taste of real studio life.

The students, ranging in ages, each brought something different, from unique hobbies and personal styles to their own take on design. What they all had in common was an enthusiasm to learn and try something new.

Welcoming them into our space might be a small investment, but we want to play our part in something bigger; a commitment to offering the next generation of creative talent exposure to the industry.

They worked alongside the Lyfe team on everything from mood boards to mock digital assets, producing designs and creative outputs inspired by real client work.

“To get the full experience of responding to a brief within a studio, it’s important the tasks are as close to real-life as possible. That way, they feel like they’re contributing to actual agency work.”

Charlie Cronin

Senior Account Manager

From posters and social graphics to rebrand exploration, we encouraged them to think we do – be bold, back your ideas and avoid playing it safe.

“Thank you for creating such a welcoming, inspiring first experience of the working world. It’s helped him start to imagine what he might want to do in the future, and that’s priceless.”

Of course, studio life isn’t all pixels and Pantone codes. Being in the heart of Ancoats, we made sure to introduce them to the essential local lunch spots, cafés and bakeries, because creative fuel matters too.

As anyone approaches the stage in their life when they are having to consider a career path, it can be quite daunting. That’s why we felt it was important to offer these opportunities to three young people who showed passion, interest and a flair for the creative industry to hopefully help them towards deciding which career fits them best.

This isn’t a one-off either. We hope to continue to offer work experience opportunities again in the future. If we can play even a small part in that young person’s opinions and experience within the world of design, then mission accomplished.

“Working alongside young and enthusiastic designers that are ready to take the next steps towards a career in design is exciting. Helping them to shape their projects over the week and provide insights into studio working practices and culture has hopefully provided them with the ambition to further their design careers.”

Kit Ambage

Senior Designer

Whether or not they end up landing a creative career, the exposure to real briefs and a working studio environment builds confidence and equips them for whatever comes next.

If you’re a young creative looking for a meaningful studio experience, or simply curious about how design really happens, say hello. We would love to hear from you, drop Charlie a quick introduction at charlie@lyfestudio.co.uk.
